Ingredients
2Tbspunsalted butter
1Tbspavocado oil, or any neutral cooking oil
1lbharicot vert
4largeshallots, thinly sliced
1tsp kosher salt
¼tspblack pepper
½tspsugar
1cuplow sodium vegetable broth
Instructions
In a pan on medium heat, add cooking oil, unsalted butter and shallots.
Sprinkle a pinch of salt and black pepper on the shallots and fry them for a couple of minutes.
Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring often, for 30 minutes until shallots caramelize.
After 30 minutes, turn heat to medium and cook the shallots until you get a nice caramel color, occasionally stirring the shallots.
Add green beans, salt, pepper and sugar. Mix together, then add the vegetable broth.
Cover with lid and cook for 3 minutes.
Remove the lid and turn heat to high. Toss the green beans and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
